TWO former professional UK football players, who remember playing on icy fields in England and Scotland, will pass on skills to youth in a kinder climate.
Phil (Taffy) Watson and Kevin Taylor, who also played in the WA State League, will coach boys 14 to 18 during the inaugural year of the Ashfield Soccer and Sports Club Youth Development Squad.
Club president Bill Busby said it was great for the club to have the highly skilled coaches passing on their knowledge.
“The committee, members and supporters envisage that these young players will progress into the State League and beyond,” Mr Busby said.
Watson said the playing and training facilities were “first class”, and the players would be coached and developed following the club’s code of conduct and respect policies. Training is on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Call Watson on 0409 476 424.
