FAMILIES in Kwinana struggling to cope with the costs of a new school year were given a helping hand from Officeworks in Jandakot, who donated essential stationery items to help disadvantaged families.

Derek Tickner, from the Kwinana Salvation Army, accepted a donation of nearly $1700 worth of products from the store on Tuesday.

Captain Dianne Gibbons, also from the Salvation Army, said she was delighted with the generous assistance from Officeworks to help families who might be struggling with finances at the start of the school year.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Officeworks for helping children in need get back to school,” she said.

“Officeworks has provided invaluable assistance to these children by providing them with school supplies they would not otherwise have access to,” she said. “These completed booklists are going to kids of working families in the Kwinana district who are struggling to make ends meet, and will help children ranging from pre-primary to Year 12.”

Mrs Gibbons said clients were very appreciative for the assistance of the Salvation Army and Officeworks in helping their children with the cost of school supplies and enabling them to get a good start to the year.

Store manager Sharon Cutts said Officeworks believed in giving something back to local communities.

“Officeworks is committed to supporting educational and community initiatives in our local area whenever we can,” she said.

“At this time of year, it is really important to band together and help people in need.”
