OLD guitars and forgotten pianos are set to make a return when a “new community jam” session begins next month.
Catch Music co-ordinator Tim Roberton said thousands list music and making music as a favourite hobby.
“The trouble is, just like other things in life, you sometimes need a little group motivation to get you started,” he said.
“Then once you’re playing and in the middle of it, you really love it.”
The initiative came from two local community groups, Catch Music and the Lost Generation Project.
Mr Roberton said the idea behind the Melville jam session was to create a space for local amateur musicians to meet like-minded people, have fun and brush up their skills.
“All ages, skill levels, instruments and singers are welcome,” he said.
The first session will be on Wednesday July 8 from 7pm at the Vault Youth Centre in Melville. For more information, visit www. catchmusic.org.au or call Tim on 0430 589 369.
